EXHIBITORS: AUGUSTINE STRINGS
Augustine Strings
Augustine Strings is an American brand of classical guitar strings, founded in 1947 in New York City by luthier Albert Augustine. The company became famous for developing the world’s first nylon strings for classical guitars, which replaced the gut strings previously used. The creation of these strings was the result of Augustine’s collaboration with legendary guitarist Andrés Segovia, who was seeking a more stable material for concert performances. The introduction of nylon in the 1940s revolutionized the sound and durability of classical guitars, and this technology quickly became the standard in the music world. To this day, Augustine strings are manufactured in the USA and valued by guitarists for their warm, classic tone, good intonation, and high-quality craftsmanship.
