Hubert "Hub" Więcek, born on August 20, 1987, in Rzeszów, is a versatile guitarist and bassist, composer, and session musician. He began his musical career in 1999 and has since played over 500 concerts in around 40 countries, performing at major festivals such as Przystanek Woodstock, Hellfest, Graspop, and Copenhell. He is known both for his precise solo playing and his ability to create heavy, rhythmic riffs, making him one of the most respected Polish metal guitarists.
He is the founder and guitarist of the band Banisher, active since 2005, and former guitarist of Redemptor (2009–2023). From 2016 to 2020, he was the bassist for the legendary Polish death metal band Decapitated, and since 2019 he has been performing as a session guitarist at Acid Drinkers concerts and, since 2023, Dieth. His concert activity includes both studio performances and international tours, thanks to which he has gained wide recognition in the music community.
Hubert is also an active music educator. Since 2010, he has been teaching guitar and bass lessons. Previously, he was an instructor at the Guitarmanic school in Krakow and has led guitar workshops in Poland and abroad, including at the Metal Blast festival in Egypt. In 2020, he led an online instrumental workshop supported by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and since 2021, he has been running his ownonline school, Hub's Academy.
Hubert's studio work includes over 20 albums recorded as a guitarist, bassist, and session musician, including the Fryderyk Award-nominated album Anticult by the band Decapitated. His work combines technical mastery with a creative approach to composition, and his involvement in both performing and educational activities makes him one of the most influential figures on the Polish metal scene.
