ARTISTS: LESZEK CICHOŃSKI
Leszek Cichoński is one of Poland’s most recognizable blues-rock guitarists, as well as a composer, educator, and author of music textbooks. He began his career in the early 1980s, making his debut in 1982 at the Jarocin Festival. From the very beginning of his artistic career, he stood out for his passion for blues and rock, which became his trademark.
Music education was a key part of his work. In 1991, he created Poland’s first guitar course, “Blues-Rock Guitar Workshop.” Since he couldn’t find a publisher, he founded his own publishing house, Midi-Max, and published the materials himself. The course was a great success and helped thousands of guitarists learn to play, and Cichoński was honored for his work with an award from Radio Trójka for promoting music education.
The artist has collaborated with many prominent musicians, such as Tadeusz Nalepa and Wojciech Karolak, and has shared the stage with international stars, including Steve Vai and Jennifer Batten. He has performed at prestigious festivals around the world, including in the United States and Australia, as one of the few Polish guitarists to appear on such major stages.
Jimi Hendrix’s music holds a special place in his work. Cichoński is the founder of the Thanks Jimi festival and the organizer of the World Guitar Record in Wrocław, where thousands of guitarists perform “Hey Joe” together. He is also the author of symphonic arrangements of Hendrix’s songs and numerous award-winning albums. He has received numerous awards for his artistic and educational work, including the “Gloria Artis” medal.
